CAMPUS
Ellwood House is located on the campus of the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle.
The church recognizes that it is fortunate to have a large property on a main city street and has sought to put that property to its best social use.
The campus includes:
-
Ellwood House, which we are in the process of expanding
-
Braeside House, a residence for adults with developmental disabilities
-
St. Thomas the Apostle Nursery School, at St. Thomas since 1968
-
A community garden, which has allowed use of the parish property in a practical way to address food security issues.
St. Thomas hosts many ministries. The church building is very important to our community, providing a key meeting place. St Thomas hosts the 69th Scout Troop, the Harmonia Choir, the Engineers’ Wives Association, Cross Town Youth Chorus, and Alcoholics Anonymous. The church provides one of the Kiwanis Music Festival sites, and hosts many other concerts and recitals. A Saturday farmers market operates on the property in warmer months. Other faith groups worship in the sanctuary. Community groups rent the facilities on reasonable terms.
